Glenn Egoman Ong" AKA "The Man With The Golden Mic" is considered by many to be the most influential and the best radio Dj in Singapore. Now a DJ at SPH Radio's One FM 91.3, a Singapore English radio station, he is the anchorman on the Station's Number One Breakfast Show with The Flying Dutchman. A radio veteran of 20 years, Ong has been described as "foul, politically incorrect and refreshingly candid".〔Kim Hoh, Wong, "Ego tripped?" (15 May 2006), ''Straits Times''〕 A radio presenter who demands that he only works with the best, anyone who does not meet his standards should start planning their next career move. Even his last partner who was a veteran did not last long with Ong. It remains to be seen which one of his current team gets the thumbs down! An alumnus of St Patrick's〔 and Siglap Pre-University Institute,〔"The nasty king of night radio" (9 May 1999), ''Straits Times''〕 Glenn became a full-time DJ for 987FM in 1993, and is also an emcee and voice-over talent for commercials. He hosted radio shows like Say It with Music, ATrax, Top 20 countdown and, in 1995, the hit late-night show called The Ego Trip,〔 which aired every weeknight from 11pm to 2 am. He also holds the record of winning the most Radio critics choice Media personality of the year awards, a total of 4 times (2005, 2006, 2007, 2010), he's the only radio personality to be featured on the front page of the national newspapers( The New Paper, The Straits Times) time and again. He is also the only radio personality who has been on a number one rated breakfast show throughout his morning drive stint at MediaCorp for 13 years. (Previously the Flying Dutchman held the record, until he was transferred to Gold 90.5 where he ranked #2 with Vernetta Lopez.) Highly sought after by advertisers while on his Morning express stint, Glenn and FD (during his 13 years) on Class 95fm are said to have helped bring in over $100 million Singapore dollars worth of commercial revenue for MediaCorp. As such, the deal for his move to SPH radio is still being speculated, with word in the industry rampant that he is now by far the highest paid radio personality in Singapore. Glenn has refused to comment. But it should not be forgotten that it was on the ''Ego Trip'' that Ong shot to fame, and the characters ''short fart'', ''Simone'', ''The Godfather'' and the ''Honky Tong Man'' were born. Glenn performed all of the voices and soon had a cult following and a whole new generation of radio DJs following his style and copying his character voices. Known for his rants, wit and mean remarks to callers, the ''Ego Trip'' became a controversial, and a much appreciated and discussed late night radio show among students studying at that time of the night. These characters have been re-introduced and now guest star on the current breakfast show. Ong's career has been extremely colourful, he was once suspended from broadcasting for two weeks by MediaCorp after being fined by the Media Development Authority of Singapore due to inappropriate content on the show, ''Five Guys And A Girl'' which he hosted with Rod Monteiro.〔 More recently he was also fined by MediaCorp and MDA for what's known as "The mad dog incident!" Glenn was the radio voice in the film ''The Teenage Textbook Movie''. In January 2000, Ong married Kate Reyes, another DJ; they divorced by April 2003. Ong then married former FHM girl / 987FM DJ, former Star Sports personality and current Power98FM DJ Jamie Yeo in December 2004 〔"Radio DJs wed" (3 December 2004), ''Straits Times''〕 On Friday the 13th of February 2009, he announced on air that they had 'parted ways'. In Jun 2011, he announced that he was getting married to Jean Danker, another radio DJ in 2012. Ong shares his dog Biscuit with Jean, Biscuit is his most famous Jack Russell to date! On the 8th of December Ong announced that he was going on leave indefinitely. Then on the First Friday of the new year Mediacorp confirmed that Ong had quit with immediate effect. 5 days later Singapore based F&B hospitality and consultancy firm CIRVIS's managing director Chris Glaessel announced in a press release that Ong was now Director in the company."
